Throughout human history the global population remained relatively unchanged, that was until about a hundred years ago when all of a sudden the global population began to increase - rapidly! Now there are almost 8 billion people who call earth home, and this growth doesn't see to be slowing down. What are the reasons behind this huge increase in population? Will this population growth continue? If it does continue to grow what does that mean for our planet? Can anything be done about it? If the global population is increasing so much, why are some country's populations in decline? If you've ever wanted to know the answer to any of these questions, or you're simply interested in finding out a little more about how global demographics are impacting our planet, then this course is for you!
Course aim
To introduce learners to some of the driving forces behind the rapid growth of global population, and why this growth isn't happening evenly across the world.
