Positive Parenting Guide

An interactive session where carers/parents/grandparents/teachers/learning support assistants/other care givers of children under 18 can share experiences and issues that they feel they are having in their parenting journey in a safe environment. Different concepts and ideas will be discussed and materials provided to help to make parenting experiences and challenges more manageable and to broaden your understanding of different parenting styles and approaches to help you to adopt the style of parenting that you feel will work best for your family.

Course aim

An informative and interactive session sharing ideas and concepts about parenting in a safe space.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Consider approaching difficult conversations such as consent
  • Appreciate the need for some boundaries and structure to decision making
  • Understanding the need to say what you mean and mean what you say
  • Appreciate the need for things to change in an age appropriate way at different stages in a childs development
  • Understand how to be a child's parent first and friend second and making the most of quality time spent together
