Throughout much of art history, scenes from the Nativity have been a staple theme for artists producing altarpieces, church frescoes, as well works for private collectors. While the focus has generally been on the uplifting nature of the story of Jesus's birth, artists have also explored darker and more enigmatic aspects of the Nativity. This one-day course will explore and debate a range of interpretations with students having the opportunity to source their own examples.
