Vilhelm Hammershoi - A Sense of Place

Ref: C2345482

Vilhelm Hammershoi was a celebrated Danish painter known for his poetic, subdued and meditative interiors and sparse landscapes, and for his sensitivity to both light and spatial construction of his work. He is best known for his paintings of domestic spaces, sparsely furnished rooms with white walls and plain floors. Our perception is somehow irresistibly drawn to these spaces in which almost nothing is happening but which suggest something profound and inexpressible about the nature of art and life
