This face to face course is for students who enjoy cooking and creating their own meals. We will discuss meals and dishes from our cultures and share recipes together. The course will cover the following topics: Speaking, reading and writing about food Reading and understanding recipes Practice food vocabulary and cooking verbs Comparing different food cultures Food for celebrations

Course aim

A five week course where we discuss our knowledge and love of food from our own cultures and countries, and share recipes.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for beginners and improvers
  • This course is for ESOL students with a level of Entry 2 or higher. You need to have an interest in food and be a keen cook. You need to be able to speak about the food from your home country and the dishes that you cook at home.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • . Bring a recipe from my country to share with the other course participants.
  • Read and understand a recipe from a different food culture.
  • Learn and practise using food vocabulary and cooking verbs.
  • Discuss different food cultures.
  • Write a new recipe from my home country.

You will have the opportunity to meet people from a wide range of cultures and countries, discuss your ideas and learn about the above topics in a friendly and supportive group. At the end of the course, we plan to publish the recipes in a book celebrating international community in Norwich.
