Come along to this interactive online course where you will discover the causes and effects of historic volcanoes and earthquakes form around the world. Join Bev Fowlston, your enthusiastic Earth Science tutor, who will take you on a journey around the world exploring the landscapes, geology and hazards of these fascinating natural wonders. We'll discover some of the people who have seen and experienced these exciting phenomena. No experience required, although if you know a little geology that would help.

Course aim

To provide an introduction to historical volcanic eruptions and earthquakes with a view to learning more about their causes and effects.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Engage in active learning.
  • Discover volcanoes from around the world.
  • Compare and contrast earthquakes across the world.
  • Understand how earthquakes and volcanoes are linked.
