This course is suitable for learners who are new to using a computer/digital device and want to build up their confidence. If you are a beginner and need help getting started on a digital device, or need to improve your current basic digital skills then our Step into Digital course will get you started on your journey. This is a non-accredited course and a practical and flexible way of improving your digital skills and confidence in a friendly and welcoming environment.
Course aim
The aim of the course is to build your confidence and skills in using a digital device and support you using these skills for everyday life, job searching, job applications and employment.
Do I need any particular skills or experience?
- This course is for beginners and improvers
By the end of the course I should be able to:
- Use a mouse, trackpad and keyboard with confidence and be able to navigate around the device.
- Search for information on the internet through a web browser.
- Create a free email account and learn how to compose and send an email with an attachment.
- Use Zoom and Canvas for online learning.
- Learn how to stay safe online.
What else do I need to know?
You will need an internet connection, speakers, a microphone and a webcam so that you can use our video learning platform, Zoom. You will need a personal email address to join the WEA’s digital learning platform, Canvas so that you can receive resources, record your progress and achievement.
