This course takes a tour through Economic History and looks at some of the the major economic events of the last century and the ways in which economists have explained and interpreted them. What is the economic theory behind the Russian Revolution and why did economic planning fail against the capitalist economies of the west? What caused the great depression and what impact did it have on the economy, people and future economic policy? What economic changes were needed to meet the requirements of the second world war and how did the aftermath of war affect the global economy? What is globalisation and how has it affected our own economy? Which economists have been the most significant over the last century and how well have their theories endured?
