Course includes the lives and achievements of famous 1930s aviation personalities - Amelia Earhart; Amy Johnson; Bery Markham etc plus male contemporaries - Jim Mollison; Francis Chichester; Charles Kingsford Smith etc. Technological achievements are explored - pressurisation - the advent of "modern" airliners and the role and fashions for air stewards. The heydey of airships and the tragedies enveloping that technology as war clouds hastened aeronautical development - all encompassed with the tutor's bias towards human interest accounts and personal stories reflecting the challenges and excitement of that bygone era.
