Whether you want to brush upon your sewing skills or start from scratch, get creative with this course and work on a series of sewing projects. You will be be able to make a pattern and you will be taught some sewing techniques. Upcycle scrap fabric to make ornaments and useful knickknacks, you will learn the timeless skills to turn unwanted scraps into something special and learn to love your rubbish!
Course aim
To provide an introduction to sewing and learn some sewing techniques. The aim of this course is to get the first foundation for independently making patterns and sewing.
Do I need any particular skills or experience?
- No skills or experience needed
- This course is suitable for beginners and improvers
By the end of the course I should be able to:
- learn to sew
- make a pattern
- learn to cut fabric confidently
- learn to look at pattern and design to create your individual piece
- make an item for yourself or a gift
How will I be taught?
- The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
What kind of feedback can I expect?
- You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
- You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
- You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions
What else do I need to know?
- Sewing machines will be provided. You will need to provide some basic materials for each session.
