Resilience is a set of skills which can be learnt and strengthened. This course enables you to practice and embed key skills and habits that will enable you to meet life challenges and navigate transitions smoothly. These include strategies to increase wellbeing, manage difficult feelings, and engage with others in a positive way. It will be activity based and interactive, with opportunities for discussion in small groups and a chance to share your experience of trying out the techniques.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?
- No skills or experience needed
By the end of the course I should be able to:
- Identify strategies for improving my wellbeing
- Discover ways to manage my feelings when I experience difficult events
- Develop habits that encourage me to feel positive
- Identify strategies for developing my social support networks
How will I be taught?
- The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
- You will be invited to practice new approaches in between the classes and offered a range of reading materials and resources.
What kind of feedback can I expect?
- You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
- You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions
What else do I need to know?
- All materials will be provided

- No pre reading is required but research on the subject on the internet or in the library may be helpful

- There are no prescribed next steps, though with greater resilience skills you may find that you wish to explore new career, learning or social opportunities to enrich your life.
