This course is fully online with no physical meeting space, accessing the course through Canvas our virtual learning environment and zoom a video conferencing software. You will need a reliable internet connection, access to a computer or internet linked device with camera and microphone. We will be email you links to canvas and zoom, please accept these to access the course, the sender will show as “instructure”, without these you will not be able to access the course. It is a good idea to do this with time before the course so if you are having issues you can contact us to make us aware. The Tempest is regarded as Shakespeare's final play, a combination of love, comedy, revenge, envy and magic. The taster will present a brief overview of the play in the context of Shakespeare's work, and will provide a chance to ask questions and express your particular areas of concern and interest in the topic.
Course aim
This course is an introduction to Shakespeare's Tempest, as a taster for the upcoming course that will take us in more detail through The Tempest.

- develop a greater awareness of how the playwright shapes each scene to heighten the dramatic impact
