Day School: The Norwich Pre-Raphaelites

Ref: C2226838

Norwich is not normally associated with pre-Raphaelite art however, this city can boast of having a family of artists (including a woman) who influenced the development of this innovative nineteenth century art movement. Participants at the Day School will actively assess and critically engage with the paintings of the Sandys family which included portraiture, landscape and mythological subjects. By taking this approach, a greater understanding of their art will develop, enabling a more informed contextualised analysis. By the end, attendees will gain a greater appreciation of Pre-Raphaelite art and the role one Norwich family played in its artistic vision.
