Day School: Beowulf in Context

Ref: C2226837

We will spend the day exploring the rich language, complex characters and intriguing themes of this epic poem through discussion of the plot and close readings of extracts. We will also consider the historical context in which the poem was written by placing it in dialogue with other texts, images and artefacts. You don't need to have any prior knowledge of Old English literature or language and all extracts from the poem will be provided in modern English translation.
