Art Appreciation

Ref: C2524735

We will focus on American art and artists from the second half of the nineteenth century. This will include artists who primarily lived and worked in America as well as American born artists who spent much of their lives abroad. We will examine how American art and artists were shaped by the political, social, economic and cultural changes that relate to the historical period. We will also ascertain the extent to which American art was influenced by the art and artists of other countries. Artists will include Winslow Homer, James Whistler, John Singer Sargent, Mary Cassatt and Thomas Eakins.
