Arabic Language for Beginners

This course is suitable for those who have little or no previous Arabic skills or knowledge. You will build up a strong foundation of the language structure and an understanding of the Arabic culture You will learn the Arabic alphabet and how to initiate simple social interaction and exchange information which will include being able to ask for directions ,understand information given to them from a native Arabic speaker ,recognise road signs , learn about numbers, time and daily routines .

Course aim

The aim is to bring the beginners up to standard to be able to communicate and understand basic ideas in Arabic. It will also include an introduction to Arabic Culture

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for beginners
  • This course is for people with little spoken English

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • know the Arabic alphabet and identify Long and short vowels,shaddah and sukoon To be able to recognize the Arabic alphabet ,how to join them and form words. Short and long vowels,shaddah and sukoon.
  • identify simple singular nouns, dual and plurals and adjectives and apply correct case endings
  • Take part in simple conversations for use in everyday context
  • Ask simple questions in Arabic and be able to follow simple instructions
  • construct simple sentences

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • You may be asked to undertake additional work in your own time to support your learning
  • You will be expected to carry out a range of activities in your own time

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • A file of work will be kept which will help to record your progress

  • Folder ,A4 paper pad ,pen Text book the teacher will advise you to buy

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required
