Mindfulness with Visualisation

The techniques of mindfulness will be explained in a straightforward manner and there will be lots of opportunities to discuss progress, sort out any obstacles and have fun along the way! Visualisations will be incorporated into the meditations and you will develop your skills at creating visualisations that are tailored to your own requirements. Visualisation aids relaxation and healing and can help you achieve your goals in life. It also gives you greater understanding of yourself and your dream world. The course takes place at Lark Lane and St. Michaels Community Centre, The Old Police Station, 80 Lark Lane, L17 8UU.

Course aim

This Introduction to Mindfulness will focus on self-acceptance and listening to your deeper wisdom. It will include the use of visualisations as part of meditation.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Follow the movement of your breath throughout your body as part of several meditation exercises, showing a deeper understanding of the breath. Reflect on and share this experience.
  • Apply mindfulness to your life, keeping a daily record of practice and insights ( in the form best suited to you).
  • Create a safe space visualisation and a visualisation of the world as you would like it to be.
  • Name your 7 major chakras and do your own health diagnosis of them.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • You may be asked to undertake additional work in your own time to support your learning
  • Guided meditations with plenty of time and support to consider their impact. and how to overcome any difficulties. A CD will be provided to practice with at home.

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions
  • A file of work will be kept which will help to record your progress
  • You will be encouraged to keep a diary. This is a good way of paying attention to your experience and treating it like it matters. No one will be under any pressure to write more than they wish or share anything they don't want to.
