Buying and Selling Online

This course will enable participants to make online purchases for goods and services, they will browse websites, check stock, reserve items and compare best prices. Participants will also learn how to advertise goods they wish to sell, including writing advertisements and taking photographs.

Course aim

This course will provide participants with the skills to make online purchases and advertise items for sale in a safe environment.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • Participants should have keyboard and mouse skills.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Purchase at least one item online
  • Compare at least 3 prices of an item online
  • Write an advertisement for an item
  • Take a photo and download it
  • Place an item for sale online

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor

What else do I need to know?

  • Nothing else is needed
  • If participants have items they wish to sell, they should bring these with them if they are able. If participants have their own camera or phone with camera, they should bring these as well, ensuring chargers, leads and batteries are included.

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required

  • are paying the standard fee or are on any of the qualifying benefits

  • have a valid email address
  • have been resident in the UK, EU or EEA for the last 3 years
