Have you studied Spanish before? Do you feel the lack of practice is damaging your progress? …Time to brush up on your Spanish. Come and join us on this short course for intermediate- advanced students. Refresh your previous knowledge of the Spanish language, recharge and expand your vocabulary, practise some very useful phrases whilst consolidating some of the important grammar points. Regain confidence in using your skills taking the opportunity to interact with other students in a friendly and supportive atmosphere.

Course aim

To develop a wider vocabulary and better understanding of Spanish language when talking about places and become more confident using gustar and verbs that follow the same pattern, when talking about what we like/ like doing.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Describe places of interest using SER to say what they are like and a wider vocabulary for description.
  • Use ESTAR when saying where some places of interest are, and develop your skills to give/gather information to get there.
  • Use SER, ESTAR, TENER, HAY more confidently when talking about different places, and their main attractions.
  • Use GUSTAR and similar verbs to talk about what you like/ like doing (hobbies and pastimes).
  • Be more confident interacting in the Spanish language and use a wider vocabulary on different leisure activities.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • You may be asked to undertake additional work in your own time to support your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • There will be a number of tasks appropriate to your course such as written work, creating art or craft, video, photography or small projects. Some of these may be marked to help you progress

What else do I need to know?

  • It would be helpful if you had access to the internet (Mobile phone, tablet or computer at home or through a library etc.)
  • You need to bring:a notebook and a pen. The tutor will give you information on some books, dictionaries and other resources that can support your learning, and suggest how to use any resources you may already have.
