Singing for Fun & Confidence

This is a relaxed and informal course where we will explore the joy of singing together. Participants will learn breathing techniques, new songs, and relaxation techniques which will help them to develop confidence and self esteem. We will have fun.

Course aim

To use singing and music to improve self confidence and self esteem. To have fun and enjoy singing together. To learn unfamiliar songs and work together to put on a concert at the end of the term for staff and clients at Addison Centre

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Sing in a group situation
  • Listen carefully to others and tutor to ensure we are all singing together
  • Feel more confident
  • Learn new kinds of music
  • demonstrate breathing techniques to prepare me for singing

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning

What else do I need to know?

  • Nothing else is needed
  • All materials will be provided
  • an open mind and the willingness to try new things and have fun

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required
