Free Taster - Have a Go at Creative Textiles

Learn how to make and use a simple viewfinder to select an area from an image of your choice, then use this to create a collage based on this image. We will also explore other ways of creating collage as inspiration for textile art.

Course aim

At the end of this taster day students will have learned how to select and use an image, create a collage from it and learn how this can be used for future textile art

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Select and use an image as the starting point for a piece of textile art
  • Make and use a viewfinder to focus in on an area in a larger image
  • Create a collage from the image selected
  • Use 2 different methods to create a collage
  • Describe how the collage can be used when creating a piece of textile art

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions

  • All materials will be provided
