Exploring Print and Paper

This course will cover the basics of a range of techniques using paper and printing and will include collage, eco printing, making fabric paper, how to hand dye paper, simple screenprinting, how to make envelopes, make a concertina book and how to make an altered book from an old book

Course aim

An exploration of ways to decorate and use paper and make and alter books.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Select natural materials to use to print onto paper
  • Screen-print using an embroidery hoop
  • Use paper to make envelopes
  • Choose a suitable book to make into an altered book
  • Find an image and suitable papers to create a collage

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning

  • All materials will be provided
