Art Journaling

In this course you will get an insight into what art journaling is through a powerpoint presentation, look at samples of finished or work in progress pieces. You will be shown how to do some of the techniques to start the process using inks, paints, stencils and other mixed media and accessories. You will also be able to experience a short sound meditation at the beginning and end of the class.

Course aim

This course will give an overview of what art journaling is, which will then inspire you to start your own personal journey of journaling with art.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Identify what art journaling is
  • Produce one or more pieces of your own art journal
  • Improve on previous art skills
  • Learn new skills

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions

What else do I need to know?

  • A selection of materials and basic equipment will be provided but you are welcome to bring additional materials with you
  • A selection of materials will be provided but you may want to bring your own materials such as an art journal

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required
