Whether you want to save your local pub, oppose a planning application, run a successful trade union campaign at work, or if you are an anti-poverty activist who wants to get the law changed, you need to know how to campaign to win and influence decisions. This is a practical course based on general principles. It will include opportunities to rehearse some of the skills needed to run a successful campaign.

Course aim

This is a practical workshop based on effective campaigning techniques. It will include opportunities to rehearse some of the skills needed to run a successful campaign.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Describe effective campaign tactics.
  • Plan an effective campaign.
  • Explain why some popular approaches to campaigning are doomed to fail.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion

What else do I need to know?

  • Nothing else is needed
