The course is for beginners and those have an interest in Spanish culture. There will be plenty of opportunities to practice different scenarios e.g. ordering food or finding your way. The course is ideal for those planning a holiday to Spain or South America and also those who want to learn one of the most widely spoken languages in the world i.e. Spanish

Course aim

The course will provide basic skills to communicate in Spanish. It will enable you to have a more enjoyable experience whilst visiting Spain or develop your interest and build your confidence. There will be plenty of opportunities to practice different scenarios e.g. ordering food or finding your way. The course is ideal for those planning a holiday to Spain or South America and also those who want to learn one of the most widely spoken languages in the world i.e. Spanish

What topics will this course cover

The course will be divided into themes - Introductions - Ordering tapas and drinks - Shopping for food and clothes - Booking a room

What will it be like?

WEA classes are friendly and supportive. You will be encouraged to work together with your fellow students and tutor. You will be asked to share your ideas and views in the class and work with the group to give and accept feedback in a supportive environment. The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you to be actively involved in your learning. You may be asked to undertake work to support your course outside of your class.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

By the end of the course the students will be able to; - Introduce themselves - Order from a basic menu of tapas at least 3 - Book a room in a Hotel - Find some directions

How will I know I'm making progress?

Verbally and in writing after some tasks.

What else do I need to know, do or bring?

A small dictionary or phrase book. Espana Viva book from BBc

Reading and information sources

Reading Espana viva is desirable so is also any brochure relating to travel in Spain E.g a food menu
